Privacy Policy

Overdue is a study planner built by a college student, for students. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email overduehq@gmail.com.

What we collect

We collect only what the app needs to work:

  • Account info: your name, email address, timezone, theme choice, and whether your account has Premium.
  • Your schedule: courses, class times, work shifts, practices, and other commitments you add.
  • Tasks and deadlines: assignments, exams, quizzes, projects, and the to-dos you create.
  • Study activity: study blocks, pomodoro sessions, and study logs (minutes studied).
  • Uploads: syllabus or schedule photos you choose to upload for parsing.
  • Feedback: bug reports and ideas you send through the in-app feedback form.

How we use it

Your data is used to run the service: building your study schedule, showing deadlines and reminders, tracking your progress, and improving the app based on aggregated, anonymous usage patterns. We do not use your personal study data for advertising.

Sharing and third parties

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers. Your data is processed only by the services needed to run Overdue:

  • Hosting infrastructure (currently Vercel).
  • Our database provider, which stores your account and study data.
  • An AI provider, only when you use AI features such as syllabus parsing or adaptive planning. Only the content needed for that request is sent.
  • Google OAuth, only if you choose to sign in with Google (we receive your name and email to create your account).

We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of the service.

Cookies and sessions

We use session cookies to keep you signed in and remember basic preferences like your timezone and theme. These are required for the app to function. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account from Settings, your data is permanently removed, including uploads stored on our servers. Backups, if any, are purged on a rolling basis.

Your rights: export and deletion

You can download a copy of your data at any time from Settings as a JSON file, and you can delete your account and all associated data from Settings whenever you want. No email or waiting period required.

Children's privacy

Overdue is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will note the update here and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of Overdue after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
